Great story
By Franny Zee
I entirely agree with the other reviewers so far. Courtship is a well-paced book with a great storyline, that has kept me hooked from the first minute to the last. Taite effortlessly places smart women in high-achieving positions and lets these characters grow, while, at the same time, providing a sophisticated plot. I especially enjoyed the fascinating insight into the White House procedures of selecting a Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. This setting alone was worth the read.
Unfortunately, I felt that the relationship between the two women could have been developed a little deeper. To be exact, even though Taite describes the women’s explicit thoughts of being very attracted to each other, and even in love, I could not detect these feelings much within the rest of the text. In other words, the spark was very weak and I was not entirely convinced that the two belonged together. Thus, despite loving Taite’s writing style and the premise of the story, I am only giving it four stars.

Doesn't really stand out
By calamity jane
I'm not quite certain what to say about this book. I read all types of fiction and I have read some I absolutely loved and others I hated. This book seems to fall smack dab in the middle. I have no strong opinions about this book one way or another. Despite that there are some good points, one being the author is well versed in the law and justice system or at least has done her homework. Also, it is an intelligent read in regards to sentence structure, grammar usage, etc. It most certainly doesn't come across as an amateur. Now for the bad. First, the characters are seriously underdeveloped. I mean you never really know anything about the main characters that's really of substance which makes their romantic interest in one another seem quite bland lacking any chemistry. What the author has in knowledge of law she lacks in plot development. The main ideas of this novel are never really expanded on in depth or detail. You seem to get just the superficial which leaves you wanting and not in a good way considering it never comes through in the end. I guess the big question is would I recommend this book to someone else and my answer would be no. With that being said I wouldn't blast it either considering I would probably never cross my mind again. Despite that I wanted to review, 10 bucks is a lot of money for an ebook and often times can be worth the amount spent. Unfortunately for me, that isn't the case here.

I have to say this is one author who I just automatically order books just because of how well she writes. Courtship did not disappoint in the excellent writing of the characters and the story. The story was well researched as well as the defining of the characters. I read it in under two day and was sad when it ended. Well worth reading and you won't want to put it down. I can only hope of a sequel but if not, this one I will cherish along with Carsen Taite's other treasures :)
