About the Author

Jim Halderman brings a world of experience, knowledge, and talent to his work. His automotive service experience includes working as a flat-rate technician, a business owner, and a professor of automotive technology at a leading U.S. community college for more than 20 years.

He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ohio Northern University and a Master’s Degree in Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Jim also holds a U.S. Patent for an electronic transmission control device. He is an ASE certified Master Automotive Technician (A1-A8), plus A9, F1, G1, L1 and L3).

Jim is the author of many automotive textbooks, all published by Pearson Education.

He has presented numerous technical seminars to national audiences including the California Automotive Teachers (CAT) and the Illinois College Automotive Instructor Association (ICAIA). He is also a member and presenter at the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT). �til y refrescante de principio a fin para mi cartera

Toma el Control de tu Dinero me parece uno de los libros m�s �tiles de finanzas personales que he le�do. Te acompa�a en el camino que cada uno debemos trazar a la prosperidad, te hace pensar (las respuestas r�pidas y prefabricadas en esto no funcionan) y adem�s te permite ver �reas de oportunidad, nuevos temas y riesgos que posiblemente no hayas pensado.
La autora es coach financiero certificado y se nota. M�s que un libro es un proceso y como todo proceso tiene resultados.
Me llam� la atenci�n especialmente los cuadros, est�n super f�ciles de entender pero muy bien trabajados y sustentados. Y creo que un tema que casi no viene en este tipo de libros: c�mo calcular el valor del trabajo en el hogar.
Es de consulta y lo tengo en mi bur�. Excelente, de verdad.

M�s que finanzas personales

La autora presenta una teor�a que suena tan sencilla cuando te la explican, pero que es tan, pero tan, pero TAN dif�cil de entender:

La ruta es: "Ser-Hacer-Tener". Y no al rev�s.

Es decir, no hago algo y por eso soy; no tengo algo y por eso soy.

Pero m�s importante: Primero hago y despu�s tengo. Cu�nto hubiera yo querido entender esto cuando me ahogaba en las tarjetas de cr�dito.

Y esta teor�a de Ser-Hacer-Tener puede aplicar en muchas �reas de nuestra vida y no �nicamente en las finanzas.

Y que para poder hacer un cambio en mi manera de actuar, tengo que cambiar mi manera de Ser. El cambio tiene que venir de adentro. Es una b�squeda personal, pero ciertamente Karla Bayly nos ayuda bastante para ello con este libro, que efectivamente le� en una tarde, pero que me tendr� meditando mucho, mucho tiempo; esperando lograr eso que plantea: controlar Yo a mi Dinero.

Realmente se puede tomar el control de el dinero

En el libro Karla intenta destruir algunos de los mitos que m�s da�o hacen al manejo del dinero, para luego iniciar el proceso de establecimiento de metas y elaboraci�n del plan de acci�n. Entre estos planes viene uno de 7 pasos para acabar con las deudas el cual a m�s de uno probablemente les va a salvar la vida ....o al menos les va rescatar del infierno financiero su reporte de bur� de cr�dito.

Su filosof�a no s�lo intenta llevarnos a hacer las cosas diferentes, si no a ser personas diferentes para que nuestras decisiones est�n realmente alineadas con quienes somos.

Muy recomendable para parejas que quieren empezar a hablar sobre el manejo del dinero.

About the Author
Patrick Hurley was born in Spokane, Washington in 1942. He received his bachelor's degree in mathematics (with a Physics minor) from Gonzaga University in 1964 and his Ph.D. in philosophy of science with an emphasis in history of philosophy from Saint Louis University in 1973. In 1972 he began teaching at the University of San Diego, where his courses have included logic, philosophy of science, metaphysics, process philosophy, and legal ethics. In 1987 he received his J.D. from the University of San Diego and he is currently a member of the California Bar Association. He retired from teaching in 2008, but continues his research and writing. His interests include music, art, opera, environmental issues, fishing, and skiing.

Nice Introduction to Logic

The Hurley book came within a week, a bit better than expected.

Except for packaging, which left an impression of work performed in a hurry, all went well with the book delivery process. The book I received was new and in good condition when it arrived.

The book is fairly straightforward, easy to read and does not penetrate the subject as deeply as many pedagogical textbooks do, especially those involving concepts of Mathematical Logic. Much of the logical symbolism and symbols, e.g., logical operators, are treated toward the end of the book as a more advanced topic since the first few chapters are dedicated to an introductory treatment of Logic in general, especially for the uninitiated.

All in all - nice book introducing Logic and its concepts to people who are unexposed to the subject, or never studied it formally.

A fine tool for the study of logic and language

This book was recommended to me by a former professor who has extensive background in the teaching of logic of logic and language. Having four other texts dealing with this subject, I often consult different books when searching for differing examples. The C.D. Rom that accompanies the Hurley text is a great source for review and practice, and certainly one of the best parts of owning the book. I only wish other books, dealing with various topics would have C.D. that accompany them.
